What happens when you take away colour? Shape, form, line, texture, contrast, and tone move to the foreground. Composition is more overt and insistent. The shape of the light becomes more obvious. Monochrome images inherently move the subject to a more abstract level. When I present a monochrome of a nature subject, I am appreciating it in a more intellectual way than if I present it in colour.
