I was a photographer long before digital imaging came along. From very early on I experimented with different films, papers, developers, surfaces, finishes, toners, dyes, processes, and just about anything else possible in the darkroom or camera. I was always trying to find the best ‘look’ for a particular subject. In those days, that generally involved expensive and time consuming adventures with messy, smelly, and often poisonous chemistry. I’m not willing to subject myself to fumes and contact dermatitis any more, but I do still want to get that right look. So I’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with recreating the look of analog photographic processes digitally. I’ll post about the details from time to time in the blog, but here are some interesting examples. By the way, I’ve included the process after each image title.
