(Most) humans see in colour. Colour is hugely important to how we perceive and interact with the world. When a viewer looks at a colour image, the first thing they see is the colour. Shape, line, and so on all contribute to the image, but colour hits you first and hardest. Colour evokes emotion. When I present a colour image of nature, I am relating to the subject at least partially on an emotional level. That is why you’ll see lots of strong, saturated colours in my colour nature photography. I’m trying to communicate emotion, and strong colours do that most effectively.
